St Etienne, who are last above the safety zone in Ligue 1, reached the interval with a 3-0 lead after goals from forwards Emmanuel Riviere, Boubacar Sanogo and Dimitri Payet.

St Etienne thrashed Lorient 4-1 at home in an all-Ligue 1 tie to go through to the French Cup last 32 on Sunday.

Payet found the back of the net again in the second half before Lorient midfielder Gabriel Penalba made it 4-1 from the spot.                                           

In another rescheduled last 64 tie, Nancy needed a penalty shootout to overcome fifth-division Thiers after both teams drew 1-1 after extra time.                                           

St Etienne will play at fourth-division Villefranche in the next round while Nancy will host third-division Plabennec.                                           

Holders Guingamp, who are 17th in Ligue 2, reached the round of 16 with a 1-0 win at fourth-division Mulhouse.                                           

Paris St Germain host third-division Evian while in-form Monaco take on Olympique Lyon in other round-of-32 ties later on Sunday.
