Thai golfer Thongchai Jaidee has been voted Player of the Year by his peers on the Asian Tour after winning an unprecedented third order of merit title.

The 40-year-old won twice on the tour in Indonesia and South Korea to boost his career tally to a record 12 Asian titles, and made three other top-10 finishes and every cut in another rock-solid season.

"Thongchai has raised the benchmark," the Asian Tour executive chairman Kyi Hla Han said in a statement on Monday. India's C Muniyappa won the Rookie of the Year title.
