IS Bindra (Punjab)

BCCI vice-president between 1983-84 to 1984-85, 1989-90 to 1990-91

BCCI president from 1993-94 to 1995-96

President of the Punjab Cricket Association - the state unit that nominated Sharad Pawar for president last year. Bindra, the man who has made Mohali a success story as a venue for international cricket, was once a chief rival of Dalmiya during the mid-1990s.

R S Dungarpur (Rajasthan/Mumbai)

National selector from 1972-73 to 1976-77, 1987-88 to 1989-90

BCCI vice-president between 1993-95 to 1995-96

BCCI president from 1996-97 to 1998-99

Presently president of the CCI. Been around for a long time and knows exactly how the BCCI functions. Been critical of the manner in which the BCCI is being run.

Ranbir Singh Mahendra (Haryana)

BCCI hon. joint secretary in 1980-81 to 1984-85

BCCI secretary in 1985-86 to 1989-90

BCCI vice-president from 2002-03 to 2003-04

Elected 27th president of the BCCI by virtue of Dalmiya’s casting vote after he tied with Sharad Pawar. Joined the BCCI in 1975. A lawyer, he is the son of former Haryana CM Bansi Lal.

PM Rungta (Rajasthan)

BCCI Treasurer from 6-3-192 to 25-9-1992

BCCI vice-president between 1963-64 to 1970-71

BCCI president from 1972-73 to 1974-75

Along with son K M Rungta, has held power in Rajasthan for over 30 years, their reign ending in February 2005.

In the BCCI, has been a looming presence even when out of efective power.

Sharad Pawar (Mumbai)

Age: 65

MCA president since 2001.

Was a surprise addition to cricket administration when he became
MCA president. Lost the BCCI presidentship to Mahendra last year in a humdinger. Has since kept his cards close to his chest. Still the only man the Dalmiya camp fears.

A C Muthiah (Tamil Nadu)

BCCI president from 1999-00 to 2000-01

Chennai based industrialist, he became president in September 1999. His father M A Chidambram served the BCCI for over four decades, including a term as president (1960-63). After 2 years in the hot seat, Muthiah lost the presidentship which he has been trying to regain since.

Jagmohan Dalmiya (Bengal)

Age: 65

BCCI secretary in 1990-91, and from 1993-94 to 1996-97

ACC secretary: 1993 to 1996

ICC president: 1997 to 2000

BCCI president : 2001 to 2004

Considered a master strategist, has established a stranglehold over the Board which all his opponents are trying to break.
