Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is the process of identifying potential racing drivers who will drive cars of its Etios Motor Racing (EMR) series.

The company on Saturday showcased the concept cars of EMR Series along with other motorsport activities at the Lakozy Toyota and Shinrai Toyota showrooms in Mumbai.

The company is currently conducting camps to identify the talent in the country. These select drivers will take part in the one week Race Trophy to be held in 2013. “We had conducted online application process through which interested racing enthusiasts were invited. Out of the 900 applications, we shortlisted some 70 drivers and out of that 25 drivers will be finalised who will participate in the race,” said RK Ramesh, general manager, conversion and accessories, TKM.

EMR will be an India-specific initiative, however similar kind of racing initiatives are being organised by Toyota in countries like Thailand and Japan. This year will be dedicated to popularising the EMR brand. There will be exhibition races, road shows and other activities.
