Over 40 schools in the city will take part in the 16-day competition.

Cricket, a sport loved by a majority of countries across the world and followed with extreme passion in India, is not only a sport but a way of life, joy and religion for cricket lovers. However, owing to lack of open grounds and suitable infrastructure in the city, many end up playing on the streets or in their societies.

There are many cricket and other sports grounds in the city, but they are not accessible to everyone.

City-based organisation, Rudra — the concept, aims to promote sports and cultural activities among youth in Gujarat by helping them bag recognition at international level.
The institute has organised an the ‘Under-17 inter-school cricket tournament’ at Gujarat College ground, on December 1. The 16-day tourney will witness participation of over 40 schools.

“It will engage students in solving problems within their schools and communities as an integral part of their academic studies. Students master important curriculum by making meaningful connections between what they study and its real life applications. We want this tournament to bring passionate cricketers from villages, chawls, small towns and cities to play at international levels,” said Vikas Parekh, Rudra Event and Health Management.

The schools participating in the tournament include Ankur School, Prashant High Schools, SGVP Presidential International, Sankar Vidhyalaya, Divan Ballubhai, Aroma, Shayona Elite Boarding, DP High, Reuba High, HBK New High and Turff High, among others.
