The central intelligence agencies have informed Maharashtra government that Lalit Modi could be targeted by the underworld. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has intercepted a telephonic conversation from across the border, in which the callers were talking about targeting the IPL chairman because Pakistani players are not allowed to take part in the league this year.
A Pakistan-based Islamic fundamentalist organisation had ‘offered’ a huge some of money to Chota Shakeel for eliminating Modi. Sources said it was a very specific input. “A supari of several crores has been given to the underworld to eliminate Modi either in India or in South Africa,” an intelligence officer said.
Modi is currently in South Africa for the IPL II. “If Modi is in India will can take care of his security. If he is in South Africa then we cannot provide any security,” a central intelligence officer from Delhi said.
