After a disappointing Asian Games in Jakarta, Manu Bhaker became India's first shooter to claim a gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games which took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 16-year old shooting sensation shot 236.5 to stand at the top of the points table in the women’s 10m air pistol event.

Although Manu has made a mark of herself in shooting at a very young age, she had one admitted how the shooting was never her first choice of sport as growing up. She had excelled in boxing, cricket, kabaddi, skating and table tennis among a few sports before she decided to take up shooting professionally.

Since she had played kabaddi too earlier, Manu displayed a great show when she recently visited a school for the Inter School Sahodya Jhajjar.

The 16-year-old posted a video of herself competing in a kabaddi at a school-level match.

Manu, who was India’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympics, topped the qualifying with 576, which included a series of 95, 96, 96, 96, 95, 98, finishing second and third in the qualification.

“It is a great honour for me. I never expected to be the flag-bearer for the Indian contingent,” Manu had said after hearing the flag-bearer news.
