According to a report in the News of The World, lucrative sponsorship deals and a £1,0,000-a-week salary have helped boost Rooney's wealth by £4 million in the past year.
However, the report says that Roo's fortune is still a quarter of David Beckham's £125 million.
The next richest UK footballer is Michael Owen at £40 million.
Football dominates the pay league with 57 players and managers making the top 100. They are collectively worth £2.45 billion. Chelsea has the most entries, ten, with eight from Manchester United.
