Joel Wilson can now umpire One-day Internationals around the world after the International Cricket Council approved his appointment to its international panel.

The 44-year-old from Trinidad & Tobago joins compatriot Peter Nero on the panel, which is one rung below the Elite Panel of Test umpires.

"I feel happy to be appointed on the ICC International Panel in the on-field position and I understand that with it comes great responsibility to continue to represent the umpiring fraternity in the West Indies with distinction," said Wilson.

He said that his love for the game and the hard work he put in over the 16 years of being an umpire helped him to get elevated.

With Wilson joining, the West Indies now have three umpires on the ICC panel of umpires. Dominican Billy Doctrove is the only Caribbean official on the Elite Panel.

Guyanese Nigel Duguid joins Barbadian Gregory Brathwaite as an official international television umpire, replacing Wilson.
