With the coming back of husky and deafening vuvuzelas ahead of the Soccer World Cup, fans are rushing to medical stores to purchase earplugs for the sake of their ears, the News24 reported.
Pharmacies have started running out of their stocks amidst high demand.
"Our ear plugs are sold out," a representative of Netpharm Pharmacy in Cape Town told News24, adding that they cost about 20 rand a pair.
Meanwhile, Neil van Schalkwyk, the founder of Vuvuzela, told that he has entered into a partnership with Uthango Social Investments to sell earplugs to fans for 25 rand a pair.
These earplugs are manufactured and assembled by 120 South Africans with disabilities and will be available from the website and 14 Park and Ride facilities around stadiums in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Money made from the sale of these earplugs will also contribute to Uthango's expenses.
