Reflecting on Younis' performance, Waqar said that the 'experiment' to use Younis 'wasn't successful', adding that it was 'not too tough to drop a senior player', the Express Tribune reported.

Former Pakistan pace spearhead and current coach Waqar Younis admitted that 'experimenting' veteran batsman Younis Khan as an opener against India had failed.

India extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan in World Cup to 6-0 after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men claimed a 76-run win over their neighbors.

Reflecting on Younis' performance, Waqar said that the decision to use Younis 'wasn't successful', adding that it was 'not too tough' to drop a senior player, the Express Tribune reported. Waqar further said that when they used Younis at number three or four he was 'not scoring runs' so they used him as an opener, 'but it didn't work'.

Vowing to stage a comeback, Waqar said that 'it was just the start and there were more games to play and they would come back in the matches ahead', the report added.

Pakistan will next meet the West Indies on Saturday at Hagley Oval.
