Wrestling great Maruti Dnyanu Mane no more

Hind Kesari wrestler and former Rajya Sabha member Maruti Dnyanu Mane (75) passed away after a brief illness in Miraj on Tuesday.Mane, who was born in Kavatepiran village, first tasted international success when he won the gold medal at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta.He won a bronze medal at the International Wrestling Championship in Russia in 1963. In 1967, he gave a tough fight to world champion Alexander Medved of Russia in Manchester. Mane received the Shiv Chhatrapati Award in 1981. In 2005, he won the Dhyan Chand Award.
