The 64-year-old’s son, who was an independent wrestler in Japan over the last few months, was discovered unresponsive in the room, TMZ.com reported.
The retired wrestler’s agent told the site “We are heartbroken to confirm that Ric’s son, Reid Fliehr, has passed away today March 29, 2013 in Charlotte, NC.
The agent said that the investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
Reid, who had issues with heroin in the past, was arrested in 2009 for possession.
