Canon's EOS 1300D is an 18MP DSLR with built in WiFi and NFC for wireless image transfer and control.

Featuring both WiFi and NFC, the new Canon EOS 1300D aims to arm entry-level photographers with the ability to share photos wirelessly

Canon today launched their EOS 1300D camera aimed at entry-level photographers, with features and capabilities that bring greater possibility to the field.

The camera is based on the Canon’s DIGIC 4+ image processor and an 18 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor featuring an ISO speed up to 12,800 for better performance in low-light photographic situations. The camera also features a 920,000-dot LCD monitor as well as optical viewfinder, and is capable of recording Full HD movies. It uses a 9-point focusing system that is also capable of tracking moving subjects.

Its standout feature however is the presence of two types of wireless capabilities built-in--WiFi and NFC--making for easy sharing of photos and videos with other wireless devices such as smartphones and tablets.

This wireless file sharing between the camera and other devices is facilitated via Canon’s Camera Connect app when using WiFi, or by simply tapping the camera with another NFC-enabled device to send files.

The Camera Connect app also allows users to wirelessly control the camera for untethered shooting--pairing the EOS 1300D with a smart device lets the user control several aspects of the camera such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO speed before finally capturing the shot without ever having to touch the camera. This untethered operation makes for several creative photographic possibilities including framing and capture group photos, or pictures of pets and babies where the presence of people might adversely influence the outcome of the shot.

The camera also integrates five built-in filters for creative shots such as soft focus, grainy black and white, toy camera effect, fisheye effect and miniature effect. There is in-camera control of these filters including intensity and color tone, and well as changing the focal point in several of these effects.

The EOS 1300D will be priced at Rs 29,995 (including the EF-S 18-55mm IS II kit lens,) while the double zoom variant (including the EF-S 18-55mm IS II and EF-S 55-250mm IS II lenses) is priced at Rs 38,995. Both variants will be available for purchase from April 2016 onwards.
