Facebook has launched a sound-editing tool called Sound Collection which gives access to many audio tracks and sound effects that can be used for videos uploaded to the network. However, it is only available on Facebook and Instagram.

The company mentioned in a blog, “Sound is a key ingredient in videos — it can instantly change the mood, build suspense, or evoke emotion. We've heard that you want an easier way to find sound effects and music to use in your videos, and that's why we're launching the Facebook Sound Collection. This is part of our broader commitment to providing video creators with the various tools they need to grow on Facebook.”

In the Sound Collection creators can find tracks from established composers and songwriters and a range of sound effects. The company is also launching discovery tools so that creators can learn about different artists, follow the ones they like, and browse sounds by genre, mood, length and vocals to find tracks for their videos.

The company also released new tutorials and resources for creating 360-degree videos and offers a camera-loaning program where creators can borrow cameras such as the GoPro Fusion and ZCam S1. In addition, the Sound Collection includes artists like Kiri Tse, a singer-songwriter known for a fusion of R&B, indie pop, and electronic music; Jim Santi Owen, who has a background in Indian percussion and a passion for cross-cultural collaborations; and Lyle Workman, a seasoned guitarist and film composer.
