Square Enix made the announcement ahead of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)

A new version of 2006's acclaimed Final Fantasy adventure is arriving in 2017 on PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will feature improved visuals as applied to both characters, cutscenes and environments, building upon the improved International Edition of the game that was then released in 2007.
Taking advantage of the hardware differences between the PlayStation 2 and Sony's current PlayStation 4, loading times will also be shorter. Publisher Square Enix made the announcement ahead of the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, which runs June 14-16.

The company does not have a dedicated presentation booked, as several others do in the days before E3 commences, but is expected to appear in a guest capacity -- especially during PlayStation's June 13 briefing -- to detail not only Final Fantasy XII but also Final Fantasy XV, Disney crossover Kingdom Hearts III, and Minecraft challenger "Dragon Quest Builders.
