As usual, with most Samsung smartphones that are released together, these devices are only subtly different from each other: the Galaxy J7 (2016) has a larger display, a more-capable processor and a bigger battery, though performance-wise it was hard to tell the difference over regular use.

First up, the boxes that the devices come in is horrendous--it's made from what appears to be a low-cost cardboard material that will bend and scuff with the slightest pressure. In the box, you’ll get the smartphone along with a USB charger, user manuals and a pair of headphones. The NFC sticker that integrates with ‘S Bike mode’ was anonymously missing from the box we received but a spokesperson from Samsung said users should expect the NFC sticker in the consumer production box.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) comes with a 5.5-inch screen while the Galaxy J5 (2016) sports a 5.2-inch screen, both smartphones come with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with HD (720x1280 pixels) resolution.

Both smartphones sport a 16GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card), 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera and runs  Android Marshmallow OS. The smartphones also come with connectivity features like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, along with an Accelerometer, Hall, and proximity sensors. Both phones also have NFC, which ties into its title ‘S-Bike’ mode. It’s a mode that pairs with a special app that enables the phone to be used in bike-friendly mode (such as canned messages that get sent when you’re riding, logging the distance ridden etc.) This mode is activated by simply tapping the phone to a special NFC sticker that you place on your bike.
