HMD Global launches Nokia 1 with Android Go Edition in India; priced at Rs 5,499

HMD Global has launched the entry-level Nokia 1 Android Oreo Go Edition phone in India.

HMD Global has launched the entry-level Nokia 1 Android Oreo Go Edition phone in India. The device will go on sale starting March 28 and is priced at Rs 5,499. It will be available in Dark Blue and Warm Red colour variants. HMD is also bringing back Xpress-on covers with the Nokia 1. However, these would be sold separately, starting April at a price of Rs 450 respectively.

As a part of the launch offer, Reliance Jio is offering a cash back offer worth Rs 2,200. Additionally, users will also get 60GB of additional data on the network. They are also eligible for a 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify on opening the Kotak 811 savings account. Lastly, there is a 20 percent discount on the first booking ride via RedBus.

In terms of specifications, the device a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS display. It is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, paired with 1GB of RAM. It includes a 5MP rear camera along with a 2MP camera. It includes an internal storage of 8GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It is backed up a 2150mAh battery and is rated to deliver up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time.

HMD Global introduced new devices at Mobile World Congress, including Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8810, and the Nokia 1. HMD Global is also likely to roll out new smartphones from April and a new version of its 22-year-old handset Nokia 8110 from May in India. "All smartphones will start trickling in April onwards," HMD spokesperson told PTI when asked about timeline for roll out in India. HMD here unveiled four smartphones, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, new Nokia 6 and Nokia 1, in the price range of €85 to €749.

The company also relaunched it's 22-year-old feature phone Nokia 8110 with the support of 4G services for €79 or about Rs 6,300 excluding tax. Three new Nokia smartphones the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 7 Plus and the new Nokia 6 are built on Android One platform and will support artificial intelligence technology.
