Hours after Microsoft faced a global outage on Friday, the tech giant said that the underlying cause for the issue has been fixed, but the residual impact of cybersecurity outages still continues to affect some Office 365 applications and services.

The antivirus software CrowdStrike also said that a fix has been deployed for a bug that caused a global IT outage affecting widespread flight operations, banks, stock exchanges, payment systems, and even emergency services.

Users are experiencing the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error which is  leading to unexpected system shutdowns or restarts.

Meanwhile, a new CrowdStrike (cybersecurity software firm) update is apparently the root cause for some Windows desktops and laptops becoming non-functional.

In India, major air carriers faced technical issues which led to the delay of many flights across the country.

The airlines had to check-in passengers manually and give them handwritten boarding .

Flight delays were reported at several airports, led to long queues of passengers.

The outage affected booking and check-in services for several airlines, including IndiGo, Akasa Airlines, and SpiceJet.

"CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed,” CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz posted on X.

“We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website. We further recommend organizations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels.”

“Our team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers,"  he further wrote.
