India’s large population and a high growth rate in terms of signing up for the social networking giant Facebook, is like to push it ahead of any country with maximum users by 2016, a new study has revealed.

The study carried out by eMarketer, analysed data from research firms, government agencies, media outlets and company reports and found that India is seeing the highest growth in social network penetration this year at 37.4 percent.

According to News24, despite’s India’s highest growth, only 7.7 percent of its population uses social networks.

Other countries like Indonesia and Mexico are expected to grow by 28.7 percent and 21.1 percent respectively.

The report said that all these countries are high-growth areas for Facebook, the world’s largest social network with more than one billion users.
