Nikola Tesla was born on July 10th 1856 in Serbian part of Croatia. Tesla is best known for pioneering the AC (alternating current) electricity supply system. The technology is widely used in almost electronic device today.
In 1884, Tesla moved to New York City in the United States and started working for Thomas Edison. The serbian scientist helped Edison improve his DC (Direct Current) technology while also developing his own AC technology.
In 1901, Tesla came up with the idea of wireless internet and smartphone technology while he and his business partner -- J.P. Morgan -- discussed wireless and instant communication through different frequency. He also had the idea of wireless lighting and electricity distribution. His patents were also instrumental in the invention of radio transmission.
During the late 19th century, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla got caught in a headlock as they disagreed over their respective electricity system. Edison supported DC (direct current) while Tesla favoured AC (Alternating current). This was referred to as the ‘War of the Currents.’
Apart from being a world renowned inventor and scientist, Tesla was also an electrical engineer, physicist, futurist and mechanical engineer.
Tesla died on 7 January 1943 in New York City, United States.
