The upcoming lunar eclipse on September 28 is a big point of discussion among scientists, astronomers and people around the world in general.
American pastor John Hagee in his book Four Blood Moons: Something Is About to Change writes about what he calls ‘celestial signals’. According to him, four blood moons or lunar eclipses appearing in close succession, is a very rare phenomenon – so the fourth lunar eclipse in two years which falls on September 28 could be the beginning of a series of terrible events on Earth.
When the Earth comes between the Sun and the moon it is referred to as ‘blood moon’ because of the red shadow cast on the moon. There is Biblical reference to these blood moons and Hagee believes that the blood moons or lunar eclipses impact our lives as well.
There is a belief among some Christians that the lunar eclipse on September 28 , which is part of a tetrad, could trigger the start of bad events in the world. Each of the four blood moons in 2014 and 2015 have also fallen on religious days significant for the Jewish people. Hagee has stated to media earlier that the two lunar eclipses in 2014 triggered major events in the Middle East including the Israel-Hamas war in the summer of 2014 and the rise of ISIS.
Astronomers meanwhile believe that the lunar eclipse on September 28 is quite special. This is the first Supermoon eclipse since 1982.
- It’s called a Blood Moon because it is a total lunar eclipse and pastors like John Hagee state that a lunar tetrad signifies the coming of difficult times.
This is a Supermoon Total Lunar Eclipse so the moon will be the closest to the Earth. A Supermoon total lunar eclipse will not happen for another 33 years. - This is the fourth and final eclipse in a tetrad of eclipses in 2014 and 2015. The next tetrad starts in 2032.
- This is the last eclipse of 2015. The minimum number of eclipses that can happen in a year are four and 2015 has four.
