Xiaomi has just unveiled their latest flagship smartphone at the MWC 2016 press conference. The smartphone was revealed with a bunch of “industry firsts” likes a Qualcomm snapdragon 820 processor, 3D ceramic body, 4-axis image stabilization and more.
Snapdragon 820
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the first phone that is rigged with the latest qualcomm snapdragon 820 processor chipset and Adreno 530 GPU which has been given best reviews in the last 3 generations. The CPU is 200% faster and consumes 50% less power than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 810.
Camera
The device will have a Sony IMX298 16MP camera with high definition sensor, PDAF autofocus and the the first ever deep trench isolation sensor (DTI) which Xiaomi says will prevents light from leaking to give clean colour separation. The camera also has high shutter speed and the first ever 4-axis OIS which meaning that the phone can not only take high quality photos of moving objects but also stabilises an image if your hands gets a little too shaky.
3D Ceramic Body
The industry first 3D-ceramic which measure eight on Mohs scale of hardness. To put things into perspective steel measures 4-5 and diamonds measure ten on Mohs scale hardness.
Quick Charge 3.0
A part of the Snapdragon 820 chipset, the latest Quick Charge 3.0 technology is reportedly 20% faster than quick charge 2.0. Xiaomi says users can get 80% to 90% battery life in an hour of charging.
High Speed Internet and Data Transfer
The smartphone will have the first UFS 2.0 high-speed Flash for data transfer--which is 87% faster that eMMC 5.0--and the latest CAT12 LTE support for a maximum of 600Mbps download speed meaning that a full high definition movie can download in 30 seconds.
Sunlight Display
The flagship comes with Xiaomi's “Sunlight Display” which adjusts Pixel-level contrast for screen clarity in bring conditions. What's remarkable about this technology is that it only adjusts the darker pixels, leaving the lighter pixels the same.
Battery
A 3,000mAh battery is nothing to write home about, if it wasn't the highest density battery in the market. Even though Xiaomi hasn't announced any benchmarks for the battery it is still a really interesting feature.
Price
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available in three different variants:
- Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro: Snapdragon 820 (2.15GHz), 128GB, 3D Ceramic back cover priced at 2,699 RMB (approx. Rs 28,303)
- Xiaomi M 5: Snapdragon 820 (2.15GHz), 64GB, 3D Glass back priced at 2,299 RMB (approx Rs 24,126)
- Xiaomi M5: Snapdragon 820 (1.8GHz), 32GB, 3D Glass back priced at 1,999 RMB (approx Rs 20,981)
