Vivo has launched a new selfie-centric smartphone in India, the Vivo V5. The company says that this device is equipped with the first ever 20-megapixel front facing camera. Priced at Rs. 17,980, the smartphone will officially go on sale on November 26 although it will be available for pre-order starting from November 16.

The Vivo V5 packs a 5.5-inch screen with an HD display (1280×720pixels) resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device houses an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor (clocked at 1.5 GHz) coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

Coming to the camera, the highlight feature of the smartphone is its 20-megapixel camera that comes with “Moonlight Glow” feature which the company claims will allow users to take perfect selfies in diverse lighting conditions. It also comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera that features soft-LED flash and PDAF (phase detection autofocus). Powered by a 3,000mAh battery, the Vivo V5 will run the company’s FunTouch OS 2.6 skin on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone will be available in Space Grey and Crown Gold colour options.

The device comes with connectivity options like 4G LTE, GPS, and Bluetooth. It will also feature a water-resistant fingerprint implanted in the home button which the company says will take 0.2 seconds to unlock the smartphone.

Vivo also announced the V5 Plus smartphone, which harbours a dual-lens front camera. The company said the device will be "coming soon" but didn't announce any official release date.
