The software giant will take down files containing ‘excessive profanity’ from its Xbox Live feed and owners’ access to some features will also be removed.

Microsoft said that all files uploaded to its Upload Studio were monitored for violations of its code of conduct and the review process was to help maintain a clean, safe and fun environment for all users, the BBC reports.

However, the company has assured that direct peer-to-peer communications such as Skype chats and calls are not monitored by the Xbox Live enforcement team.

The latest gaming console has Xbox Live, which allows users to upload media files, including videos they have made, and take part in multiplayer games.

Microsoft’s move to ban profanity on the live stream has seen mixed reactions with some users objecting to the strict policy while other in favour of it to avoid online abuse.

The report said that users of rival console, Sony’s PlayStation 4, may also experience a ban if they fail to adhere to the program’s terms of service.
