Actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee broke the news of actor Divya Bhatnagar's death due to Covid-19 complications on Monday has now alleged in an Instagram video that she was a survivor of domestic violence.
In a social media post, Devoleena had written that Divya will finally be "free from all the sorrows, pains, sadness, cheats, lies".
In a video message, Devoleena said, "She had just decided to live independently, to not fall into anyone's trap. I feel that God wasn't able to see her suffering."

In the video, Devloeena said that Gaggan Gabru, the husband of her late friend Divya Bhatnagar, used to beat Divya and subjected her to mental torture. "I am talking about you, Gaggan Gabru. You posted that Divya’s mother and brother were against your relationship, and that they were getting publicity because of you. Who are you? You are nothing. You came here and begged for her acceptance. I cut off ties with her for four years because of you. Who are you to give publicity, I’ll give you publicity now," she said.
For the uninformed, in 2015, Divya got engaged to her long-time boyfriend and then finally married him after five years in December 2019. Gagan is also associated with showbiz and works for production houses making reality shows. He is into artiste management as well.
Reportedly, Divya's parents were not happy with their relationship as it was an inter-caste marriage, however, the couple secretly tied a knot in a Gurudwara on December 22, 2019.
In her video, Devloeena threatened to expose Divya's husband and said, "There was a case on you in Shimla about molestation and you were in jail for 6 months for it. You will again go to jail now for beating Divya. Everything happened because of you, you tortured her. You think she's gone now so you can chill with your girlfriends?" she continued, and warned the 'girlfriends' to be careful because he could do the same thing with them.
"Please check his background," Devoleena told anyone contemplating working with him. "I will share proof about his actions one by one. Gaggan Gabru, you will rot in jail. God will not forgive you."
Divya had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and pneumonia. She was put on ventilator support last week and her family had said her condition was critical.
