Earlier this year Ekta Kapoor had announced that her popular TV show Kasautii Zindagii Kay will soon be brought back on television with a new cast and theme.
While it's already known that Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi actress Erica Fernandes is playing Prerna's role (which was originally played by Shweta Tiwari) and Bigg Boss 11 star Hina Khan is reprising Urvashi Dholakia's iconic character 'Komolika', there was a lot of confusion on the male lead.
Names of Kushal Tandon, Shaheer Sheikh, Mohit Raina, Angad Bedi, Barun Sobti and Ssharad Malhotra were doing the rounds for the past few weeks. But now we hear Ekta's hunt for the perfect Anurag has finally ended and the actor who has been finalised to play Cezanne Khan's role in the show is - Parth Samthaan.
Parth was finalised on Friday despite stiff competition from other contenders.
A source told Indianexpress.com, “Ekta and the team had a tough time finding the perfect Anurag. A lot of actors were in contention but the rebooted show required a young face. After numerous look tests and auditions, the team finally zeroed on Parth. The actor was finalised last night and an official announcement will happen soon. While Erica has already shot for the first teaser, a promo with Hina and Parth will also be released soon.”
Not many years ago, during the Vikas Gupta-Parth Samthaan controversy, Ekta had taken good friend Vikas' stand. But, it seems now that they have reconciled, she too has buried the hatchet with the Kaisi Ye Yaariyan star.
Ekta on Saturday posted a series of mysterious tweets confirming the reports of Parth being on board. “None of d names floating can be d lead for kasauti as all r way past their prime !!! It’s a reboot of a ‘ young( mid twenties) love story’,” the producer wrote.
Ekta followed it with another tweet, “The lead Anurag cannot b over thirty playing twenty four na?”
Meanwhile, Hina Khan confirmed being approached for the role but refused to divulge any details.
"I won't say it's not happening, but I suggest let's wait for the official announcement. Yes, I did go to meet Ekta and somehow people started to speculate, and it came to a point where they even confirmed that I've been roped in for the show, whereas I'm yet to sign anything. I mean you don't know what talks we exchanged in a room and how it works, so let the makers make the final announcement," she told Hindustan Times.
Hina said she will play Komolika in her own way and in the reboot Komolika will not twirl her hair. "No, that's not going to be there and if at all it's going to happen, it is definitely going to be different than what you saw earlier. You see it's a reboot version, so it can't be the same, she said.
The show is scheduled to air from August on Star Plus.
