The Grand Finale of Bigg Boss OTT 2, hosted by Salman Khan, was streamed on JioCinema on August 14 night, 59 days after its premiere on June 17. Elvish Yadav was declared the winner as he defeated Abhishek Malhan, Manisha Rani, Bebika Dhurve, and Pooja Bhatt to lift the trophy.
In the Grand Finale, after Pooja, Manisha, and Bebika got eliminated, voting lines were opened for the audiences for fifteen minutes to cast their votes for one last time to choose their winner amng the two popular YouTubers, Elvish and Abhishek. The former obviously received more votes and hence, was announced as the winner by the Sultan actor.
Now, in a video shared by one of Elvish's fan pages, he can be seen saying that when he met JioCinema head (Jyoti Deshpande) after his victory, she told him that he has received 280 million (28 crore) votes in those last fifteen minutes. The clip has gone viral on social media and has divided the netizens.
Elvish is mostly being trolled and his claims written off as false with comments such as, "Itna jhooth bolne ki bi hadd hoti hai (There is a limit to speaking so much lie)", and "7 million ki toh watching this aur isse 280 million vote aa gaye, itna bhi mat fenko (There were 70 lakh people watching the finale at that time and he is saying he got 28 crore votes, don't make such lies)".
On the other hand, his fans have jumped in his defence saying that they themselves voted multiple times during those fifteen minutes since a JioCinema user could send in a maxium of 99 votes thriough one account. "Maine khud 10 phone se 700 ke aaspaas vote kiye honge (I myself would have voted 700 times from 10 phones)", wrote one of his fans.
