After 'Sacred Games', another Netflix original series from India, 'Ghoul', starring Radhika Apte, is set for August 24 release

Netflix is strengthening its viewership with more and more Indian content. Only a few days back, Sacred Games, the first original series from India, premiered on the streaming service provider. And now, they have announced that their second original series from the country- Ghoul, a three-part horror story, starring Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul, will release on August 24 this year.

This marks Radhika's third association with Netflix after 'Sacred Games' and 'Lust Stories'. Ratnabali Bhattacharjee and casting associates Mahesh Balraj and Mallhar Goenka will also feature in the series in supporting roles. Ghoul, whose trailer will be out on Tuesday, will mark Netflix's foray into horror genre in India.

The poster of the series is out, and it indeed looks scary.

If you're wondering about the sudden turn-around from the initial announcement of it being released in February, it could likely be because Ghoul is one of those originals that have been acquired by Netflix. The series has been in post-production since July 2017, according to IMDb.

Ghoul talks about an interrogator named Nida Rahim (Radhika Apte)– who turns in her own father as an anti-government activist and arrives at a covert detention centre to discover that some of the terrorists held there are not of this world.

While speaking about the series, director Simran Sethi told Wion, “Ghoul is a thrilling horror series, both frightening and insightful. It’s high production value, a chilling performance from Radhika Apte, and quality writing are sure to scare Indian and global audiences alike.”

Ghoul, written and directed by Patrick Graham, has been co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane's Phantom Films, Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions, and Ivanhoe Pictures.

While Ghoul is all set to woo the audience soon, Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Sacred Games is keeping the viewers glued.
