Do not blink and miss the first few seconds of season 8 of 'Game of Thrones.'

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, your week is going to start on the best note of 2018. HBO revealed the first footage of the final season of their megahit fantasy show when they rolled out a compilation video of the shows to look for in 2019.

The 1.40-minutes-long video rode on the coattails of the finale of Amy Adams' Sharp Objects on Monday morning (IST). The compilation features clips from Jennifer Garner's Camping, last season of Julia Luis Dreyfus' Veep, new entries like Pod Save America and the first look at Meryl Streep in Big Little Lies 2 as Mary Louise Wright -- mother of  Alexander Skarsgard's Perry Wright.

HBO also unveiled the first official trailer for the third season of True Detective starring Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali, Stephen Dorff, Carmen Ejogo, and Ray Fisher.

Coming back to Game of Thrones, most of the footage used in this compilation was from the penultimate season. But there is one blink-and-you-will-miss scene in which we see Kit Harington's Jon Snow hug Sophie Turner's Sansa Stark. We hope with our heart that this is the scene when Jon returns to Winterfell because that ought to follow the first meeting between Arya Stark and Jon since they parted ways in the first episode of season one!

HBO has led the way when it came to Emmys 2018 nominations and Game of Thrones has played a great part in it. The final season of the show based on George RR Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire is expected to air in June-July just like the last one.

Apart from Game of Thrones, the new slate for HBO includes Damon Lindelof's Watchmen, Steven Moffat's The Time Traveler's Wife, Jordan Peele's Lovecraft Country, Joss Whedon's The Nevers, and JJ Abrams' Demimonde.
