Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan are reuniting on screen in Pashminna

Hiten Tejwani talks about his new show Pashminna and reuniting with wife Gauri Pradhan on screen after eight years.

Hiten Tejwani has been around in television for over two decades and the actor is still very much around, very much active. He is currently starring in Siddharth P Malhotra’s limited series Pashminna – Dhaage Mohabbat Ke, which airs on Sony Sab. The show has not just taken Hiten to a rare outdoor shoot (in Kashmir no less) but also reunited him with his wife Gauri Pradhan on screen after eight years. In a candid chat, Hiten speaks to DNA about the show and their pairing,.

Television shows in India are usually shot on studios, indoors, largely in Mumbai. But Pashminna took the lesser-taken route ad shot on location in Kashmir, during the chilly autumn and cold winter at that. Recalling the shoot experience, Hiten says, “It was cold so it was a little difficult shooting there. When you go for sightseeing, you can wear four layers but when you are shooting, that is not possible. You have one thermal and then the normal clothes. So yes, it gets cold. But we get used to it. That is why we finished it by December.”

Hiten met his wife Gauri on the sets of their show Kutumb in 2001. They tied the knot in 2004 and later appeared in several other shows together. Their last show together was Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi in 2015. Hiten explains why it took them eight years to reunite, “We got a lot of offers but they were not anything substantial so we rejected many of them. Here, there is something new. In all other offers, people gave us the same husband-wife roles. Here, there is some past, some strain, some arc. How these two characters will face each other now after years, I found that interesting. That is why we felt like we should do it.”

We ask Hiten if Gauri is his favourite co-star and the actor laughs, before responding, “I would not take away anything from any other co-star of mine. It has always been fun with everyone. But you know when you already have chemistry with someone, it is different. With others, you have to get to know someone and build that rapport. Here, it exists already. So, right from the first scene, we don’t have to make any extra efforts.”

Pashminna – Dhaage Mohabbat Ke, which also stars Nishant Malkhani and Isha Sharma began airing on Sony Sab in October. The limited series comprises of 54 episodes and is set to end in mid 2024.
