The creator of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Asit Kumarr Modi is often asked about the impending return of Disha Vakani aka Dayaben to the show. Now, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the makers are planning to shift the location of the show to some other place as Mumbai is under lockdown. Ghanashyam Nayak who plays the role of Natukaka is also away from the show due to his illness and awaiting his return.

When asked about him, Asit told The Times of India, "Natukaka is a senior citizen and has recovered from his illness but due to the pandemic, I feel, he should stay at home and follow safety protocols. We will surely get him back on the show when the situation gets better. Similarly, Popatlal's marriage is important but it will also have to wait in the current circumstances."

On being quizzed about Disha, Asit gave an unusual reply citing that the show must go on even if she is no more a part of it. Modi said, "I feel I should become Dayaben now! The question of her return has been going on for many years now. We are still waiting for her to come back and if she expresses her desire to quit, the show will go on with a new Daya. But, right now I don't feel Daya's return or Popatlal's wedding is important."

Disha has been away from the show since 2017. She has taken an indefinite maternity break and has not made an appearance since then.
