Kapil Sharma has been tweeting time and again that he is coming back with his show soon, but we have learnt that it will only happen early next year. A source close to the comedian had reportedly said that the show will launch during Diwali, but that is not happening. We hear it is likely to go on air only towards mid-January or February next year.
To begin with, Kapil hasn’t yet got anyone to produce his show. Sources say that after his maiden production, the Punjabi film, Son Of Manjeet Singh, tanked at the box office, his production house has taken a hit, and two of his Mumbai offices have shut down. As a result, the actor-comedian is scouting for a producer for his show. Buzz is that Deepak Dhar, who is the CEO of Banijay Asia, has shown an interest in producing the show.
But an insider says that even if they get a producer, neither the content nor a team for the show is in place. “Not only that, no sets will be available in Mumbai till December. Right now, several reality shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which will continue till November-end, India’s Got Talent, Love Me India and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, etc are being shot.
Super Dancer is yet to start but they have already started building their set. Also, three Marathi reality show sets have been erected, so there is no space for Kapil for his set,” adds the insider. Besides, the comedian will reportedly marry his long-time girlfriend Ginni Chatrath on December 12.
Not only that, this time, the channel that is airing the show wants to make sure that the comedian has a bank of episodes before it starts. “After their experience last time, they don’t want to take any chances. They want Kapil to be ready with at least half-a-dozen episodes before they go on air. That is one of the reasons the channel is not announcing anything yet,” says the insider.
We tried contacting Deepak Dhar and Kapil Sharma, but they didn't revert till the time of going to press.
