Television show 'Ramayana' is all set to be aired again during the lockdown period of 21 days

Ramandand Sagar's epic Television show 'Ramayana' is all set to be aired on television yet again. Internet and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar confirmed the news by tweeting that the show is back 'on public demand'.

'Ramayana' is coming back on Television during the time when India is under 21-day lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the same on March 24.

"Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting retelecast of 'Ramayana' from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.  @narendramodi @PIBIndia @DDNational," wrote Javadekar.

Here's his tweet:

'Ramayana' was a favourite show when it aired on Doordarshan back from January 25, 1987 to July 31, 1988. All Indians would eagerly wait for Sunday to watch their favourite epic featuring Arun Govil as Ram and Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, Arvind Trivedi as Raavan and Dara Singh as Hanuman.

Arun, Deepika and Arvind were recently part of Kapil Sharma's show 'The Kapil Sharma Show', which is where Arun had revealed that the cast was offered a huge sum to do a bold photoshoot which they all declined to maintain their image. After the announcement that Ramayana is coming back on TV, fans demanded that shows like Mahabharata, Junior G, Shaktiman and Chanakya should also be re-telecast.
