One of the longest running sitcoms of Indian television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's most loved character Dayaben may have been absent from the show since a long time but producer Asit Kumarr Modi says that they have no plans of ending her part. Recently, reports of actor Disha Vakani quitting the show made headlines.
However, putting rest to all speculations, Modi said in a recent interview, "Contract has not been closed. Character of Daya bhabhi is still there and we have not taken any actor to replace her. As and when she wants to come, we will see at that time. If mutually beneficial to both, we shall work together again."
Earlier on being asked to confirm the reports of Disha quitting the show, producer Asit Kumar had told BollywoodLife.com: “Can't say about the authenticity of that news. I don't know. Maybe true. I don't know about the final decision. My team is talking with her."
Daya has reportedly laid some conditions for her return. Spotboye recently qouted a source as saying, "Daya had laid some conditions with her timings and availability along with monetary concerns to makers, who in return said that they would love to have her back, but cannot comply with her conditions. Discussions went on and on for months, but now, the final outcome is that both parties have mutually decided to end their association".
She has reportedly asked for a hike in her fee. The actress, who used to charge somewhere around Rs 1.25 lakh her episode, wanted her per episode fee to be increased to Rs 1.50 lakh.
Her co-star Gurucharan Singh, who essays the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi on the show, confirmed her exit to the portal on Wednesday. "We haven't been informed with any such development. But yes, she wanted to take care of her baby. So she has gone for a break," he said.
Last year reports of her having had shot a promo video for the show had got fans super excited. However later it was said that her husband Mayur Padia wasn't very pleased with the idea of her returning to the show since their daughter was still very young.
The producer of the show had then told Times Of India, “The shooting conditions are tough and since Disha's baby is still very young, she needs her. We haven't discussed about her return yet and there is no official confirmation on Disha quitting Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah."
