The popular dance reality show India's Best Dancer is back with its fourth season. This time, while Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapoor reprise their role as judges, Karisma Kapoor has joined them as the third judge.
In an exclusive conversation with DNA, Terence Lewis talked about what's new in the fourth season and how is the show different from the other dance reality shows. He also talked about if he will miss Malaika Arora this season as Karisma replaces her in the show.
Talking about what to expect from the show, Terence said, "This sounds very cliche, but I have to say that this time the talent has really gone out of the way. The kind of skill set they have and the kind of understanding they have of how to nuance each performance. Earlier in the days we used to get good dancers but nuances were missing and subtlety was missing. Somehow the overall picture was great but we could see some lack of ease. But this time, the kind of people that have come to us is incredible with the sense of ease they have, with the style, with the language and the grammar of it. I am just very happy that the next generation of dancers are just going crazy with their dance and how they own their style and how well they perform it."
When asked about what makes the show different from other dance reality shows, Terence said, "The format allows the contestants to hold on to their own choreography and his own talent. It gives them a choreographer that matches their talent and makes them better in their style. So what happens is they get an ally and showcase many things that wouldn’t have been possible in a solo dance competition. Because of the choreographer, the choreography level gets a little nuanced and they are able to create different concepts every time."
He further added, "So in a way, this gives the artists a lot more chance to understand how a choreographer works In the future. So in many ways, this show builds on the contestants and choreographers. Secondly, the show has definitely raised the bar in terms of technique, and innovation, so there’s a lot to look forward to."
Terence revealed if he will miss Malaika Arora now that Karisma would be judging the show instead of her and said, "Karisma and Malaika are best buddies. Maybe we’ll call Malaika on the show because she is the OG judge. But for some reason, she couldn’t be on board in this season. We would love to have her as a guest judge because she knows the format, she is so amazing and our energies are so amazing."
India's Best Dancer 4's promo urges-'Jab Dil Kare Dance Kar', hence capturing the essence of dancing. The show is set to premiere on July 13 and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm.
