At a time when actress Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya is shooting in Cape Town for the stunt-based reality show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi 11', her husband, actor Vivek Dahiya has been grabbing headlines after he opened up about being sitting vacant for the last 2 years.
In a recent interview with Aaj Tak, Vivek revealed that he wanted to take a break from the small screen so that he could work on himself and prepare for entry into films. However, he said it hasn't been an easy journey since he faced many rejections and added that TV actors are often treated unfairly when they go to audition for a film.
In his interview with Aaj Tak, originally in Hindi, Vivek said, "I have been facing rejections for the last one year and have been facing a lot of reality ever since I started trying my luck in films. People reject as soon as they hear it's a TV actor. I have given innumerable auditions but it always boils down to the TV actor tag because of which I get rejected. Many times you get to hear from the production house that 'you have given a good audition but your face is not fresh for the audience. The public sees you for free on TV, so why would they want to see you on the big screen by spending their money?' I get very angry when I am rejected for all these reasons."
Vivek revealed that to get rid of his TV actor tag, since the last two years he has been rejecting all projects and sitting vacant at home where he is working on his speech, diction and body language among other things.
He said, "I left all the projects to get rid of the TV actor tag. I have been without work, sitting vacant at home for the last two years. I would say that production and marketing people should understand that a TV actor can pull his fans to the theatre as an audience. His fan following is so huge that it can benefit the films he does. Nonetheless, I am not going to give up and will definitely fulfil my dreams of working in films with my hard work."
On the work front, Vivek was last seen on TV in 'Qayamat Ki Raat' which went off-air in 2019. Later, he appeared as a guest in 'Kundali Bhagya' and 'Nach Baliye 9' with his wife Divyanka.
On OTT, Vivek was last seen in the 2020 web series 'State of Siege: 26/11'.
