A recent survey by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare has revealed that Assam has the highest percentage of women consuming alcohol among all Indian states. The findings highlight significant regional disparities in alcohol consumption patterns, with Assam showing a notable increase over recent years. Here are the states with maximum alcohol consumption by women.

In Assam, 26.3% of women aged 15-49 consume alcohol, the highest among all states and UTs. This figure has significantly increased from 7.5% in NFHS-3 to 26.3% in NFHS-4.

Meghalaya has 8.7% of women in the 15-49 age group consuming alcohol. This places it behind Assam but still significantly above the national average of 1.2%.

Arunachal Pradesh saw a drop in women's alcohol consumption from 33.6% in NFHS-3 to 3.3% in NFHS-4. Despite this reduction, 59% of men in the same age group consume alcohol, the highest among all states.

Sikkim's women's alcohol consumption dropped sharply from 19.1% in NFHS-3 to just 0.3% in NFHS-4. This state saw one of the most significant reductions.
