CBSE Board Exams 2022: New assessment scheme for class 10, 12 invites hilarious meme fest

With schools closed and examinations disrupted, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced an assessment plan for Class 10 and 12 Board exams for the academic year 2021-2022. Board exams for the pandemic hit year will now be held in two terms. 

The first term exams will be held in November-December and the second term examination has been scheduled for March-April. According to the board, the syllabus for the 21-22 academic session will also be divided into two terms with 50 per cent syllabus in each term.

This announcement has worried the students who are confused about ‘how will this system work’. Soon after the development, memes and jokes were shared on social media about the new arrangement. Some were upset and rattled over two exams while others did not even pay attention to the new system.

CBSE issued these guidelines after the COVID-19 caused the postponement and then cancellation of year-end board examinations. Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academic) of the CBSE said, “The cancellation of exams also necessitated deliberations over alternative ways to look at the learning objectives as well as the conduct of the board examinations for next academic session in case the situation remains unfeasible.”

According to the board, the decision has been arrived at following stakeholder consultations with government and private schools from across the country including the ones from remote rural areas and a majority of them have requested for the rationalisation of the syllabus, similar to last year in view of reduced time permitted for organising online classes.
