A dog that lost its leg in an accident has learned how to walk upright like a human, leaving netizens amazed at his courage.

Dogs are one of the most loved creatures in the entire world, and have been rightly dubbed as ‘man’s best friend’. Videos of several dogs have gone viral on social media in the past for their hilarious antics and intelligent behavior. Another such video has been doing rounds on the internet for the past few days.

A dog has learned how to walk upright like a human, after losing his leg in a car accident. The videos posted on the dog’s official Instagram account went viral a while ago, as people got impressed with the pooch’s intelligence and bravery.

Dexter, who is a six-year-old dog, lost his front leg after being in a car accident. He also went through a total of five surgeries in his first year and had to relearn how to walk. One day, he surprised his family when they saw him walking like a human, in an upright pose.

Dexter’s family, impressed by his newly found talents, posted a video of him on Instagram. In the video, Dexter can be seen walking around the house like a human, on his hind limbs. He is also seen peering above the counter while walking on two legs.

One of the videos of Dexter which went viral is captioned, “The happiest dog on earth... Dogs deserve to walk upright like humans do, don't deny it.” The dog has made a significant social media presence, with over 83 thousand followers and thousands of likes on each post.

In an interview with Team Dogs, Kentee Pasek, Dexter’s owner, said, “It was tragic. We did not know if he would make the 45-minute car ride to our vet in the next town, then we did not know if he would make it through the night. Once he did and had the surgery, it was a very slow recovery. Five surgeries in a year. Two sets of pins in the arm.”

The dog parent further said, “People are not sure what to make of him the first time they see him. It shocks them. Once they take in what they have seen and actually watched a dog walk upright they are so super happy. Dexter loves people and they always get taken in with his smile and love.”
