Fact check: India under complete lockdown till October 30? Here's the truth

Posting a screenshot of the viral claim, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) did a fact check via their verified Twitter account.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) busted a viral claim on Twitter which said that India will be under complete lockdown from September 23 to October 30. The claim was posted by a YouTube channel called A1 Bharat News with multiple thumbnails, carrying the logo of news channels of the country. 

Posting a screenshot of the same, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) did a fact check via their verified Twitter account and termed the news as fake. 

In its tweet, PIB wrote, "A YouTube channel named 'A1Bharat News' is making false claims related to lockdown and school closure in the thumbnails of the videos. These videos are misleading. Do not share any such videos or their misleading screenshots."

Fact Check: PIB said the video is fake and the government of India has made no such announcement.

Notably, to avoid misleading people, PIB had launched a fact-checking through its Twitter account in December 2019. Through this, PIB aims to dismiss all the false claims that circulate on social media platforms about the government's policies and schemes.

Meanwhile, India reported 31,382 new COVID-19 cases and 318 fatalities in the last 24 hours. 32,542 got recovered in the same duration. India has 3,00,162 active cases of COVID as of today.

The active cases in India include 0.89% of the total infections, which is the lowest number since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.78%
