Nischa Shah worked as an investment banker in London for nearly 10 years, reaching the position of associate director at Crédit Agricole by 2022. Despite earning an impressive salary of over Rs 2 crore annually, Shah felt unfulfilled. She realized that her job, while high income, did not challenge her or bring her the satisfaction she craved.

In a candid interview with CNBC Make It, Shah shared, “It was about nine years into the corporate journey where I had this revelation that this isn’t fulfilling me, it’s not challenging me, and it’s not intellectually stimulating.” This dissatisfaction led her to a turning point about two-and-a-half years ago, where she used a Law of Attraction planner to reassess her life goals and dreams.

In December 2021, Shah took a bold step and started creating YouTube videos focused on personal finance and self-development. Her engaging and informative content quickly resonated with viewers, and she amassed over 1 million subscribers in a short span. Between May 2023 and May 2024, her channel's success brought in earnings of more than Rs 8 crore.

Shah’s YouTube channel covers a variety of topics, including “Money Habits Keeping You Poor,” “7 Passive Income Ideas,” and “How to Invest Your First $1000.” Her videos attract significant viewership, ranging from 100,000 to 9 million views per video.

At 29, Shah made the decisive move to leave her high-paying investment banking career to focus entirely on her YouTube channel. She also introduced a spending tracker to help others manage their finances effectively. Reflecting on her new path, Shah said, “My income isn’t directly tied to the hours I work anymore, but rather, to the impact I make, which is liberating.”

Shah has no regrets about her career change. She has found fulfillment and freedom in her new role, enjoying the flexibility to create content that helps others improve their financial literacy and life skills. Her story is a testament to the power of following one’s passion and the potential success that can come from taking risks and embracing new opportunities.
