A major disruption in Microsoft's cloud services caused a mass outage on Friday, due to which many flights were cancelled. Meanwhile, major banks, media outlets also suffered due to this. Notably, Airlines in India also reported that their systems across the network are impacted by an ongoing outage. Flyers were advised to reach out to their respective airlines for information on the flights.
Exact details, including number of flights or passengers affected due to the disruption in services, were not available immediately.
On outage tracking website Downdetector, users reported problems across Microsoft line-up including Azure, and Teams.
What exactly happened?
Thousands of users across the world received the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error. According to Microsoft, the error was caused due to a recent CrowdStrike update.
Microsoft also stated they were investigating the issue impacting users' ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services.
In its latest update, Microsoft said, "We're working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact in a more expedient fashion. Our services are still seeing continuous improvements while we continue to take mitigation action."
Meanwhile, the glitch caused users to see the Blue Screen of Death error messages, and there were also widespread reports of disruptions in banks and media outlets.
