Ever seen what a ‘crorepati ki tijori’ looks like? We all have seen sights of money stacked in safes and cupboards in Bollywood movies but its all mostly fake. But these images going viral on social media of a cupboard full to the brim with cash are not fake. The pictures emerged from an Income Tax (IT) department raid on a major pharmaceutical company in Hyderabad.
The raids were reportedly conducted on October 6 and the IT department claimed that it found unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 550 crore, along with the seizure of unexplained cash money worth Rs 142.87 crore.
Picture of an almirah filled with bundles of notes stacked surfaced on social media and predictably went viral in a matter of hours. The sight has left hundreds of netizens bemused.
While the IT department has not revealed the name of the company which was the subject of the raids, it said that the pharma group is involved in the manufacturing of intermediates, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), and formulations and imports most of the products to USA, Europe, Dubai, and African countries.
As per media reports, the company is claimed to be Hetero Drugs, the first on to make a generic version of Remdesivir injection under the name Covifor, used in COVID-19 treatment.
