According to an article published in 2020, around 86 per cent of women who experienced domestic violence never asked for help. Of those 86 per cent, around 77 per cent of victims never told anyone about the incident. Everyone was surprised to see the increase in the number of domestic violence cases during the first phase of lockdown. But in the era of social media, nothing is hidden. Every day we watch videos that brings smile, laughter, anger or makes us emotional sometimes, on internet. Now a video of Manisha Gulati who is the chairperson of Punjab State Commission for Women, consoling another woman is going viral on Instagram.

In the viral video, Manisha Gulati can be seen talking to a woman in her office. She can be heard asking, “You got slapped….are you so weak…? You are so highly qualified and got slapped?” She then held her hand and said, “your qualification is zero,” the woman then started crying. 

Manisha hugged her and consoled her. The woman can be heard saying, “Mera bacha,” probably talking about her child who is 4.5 years old. While hugging her, Manisha replied, “don’t worry, I will help you getting your child.” Not only this, Manisha can be seen rubbing her back in order to calm her down.

The way the women's commission chief is consoling the woman is winning hearts on the Internet. People just can’t stop watching this video. The chief herself has shared this video from her official Insta account. More than 5.04 lakh people have liked this video. 

Thousands of people have commented on the post. One user said, “Appreciate ur efforts for the welfare of woman..” While another said, “Manisha Ji we need people like you to deliver good governance and lead Punjab, god bless you with more power and good health.”
