The incident took place at NorKam Senior Secondary school in British Columbia, Canada. The 17-year-old girl named Karis Wilson is a 12th grader. According to Metro UK, the girl was wearing a knee-length black dress when the teacher asked her to come out of the class and took her to the principal's room. Karis was told by the teacher in front of the principal that her dress violated the dress code of the school.

Karis, 17, went to school in a knee-length black dress with lace trim over a white turtleneck with long sleeves.

The school claimed that the dress worn by Karis violated the dress code of the school.

Karis' father Wilson, however, slammed the school and said the incident was "absurd" and there was nothing wrong with the outfit. Wilson said that Karis was pulled out of her class by a teacher who then escorted her to the principal's office. According to Wilson, the principal also found Karis' dress inappropriate.

Wilson told CBC News: "[Karis] was told that it could possibly make the male student teacher feel awkward and it could make [her female classroom teacher] feel awkward since it reminded her of a lingerie outfit.

Wilson later also took to Facebook to complain about the incident and the live Facebook video of Wilson went viral within no time.
