A South Asian woman was rebuked for feeding ‘baingan ki sabzi’ (eggplant curry) to a boy she was babysitting. The incident was brought to light by the babysitter on Reddit.

The boy’s mother, who has been given the pseudonym ‘Linda’, during an important meeting asked the woman to look after her seven-year-old son. The mother had packed a vegetable sandwich and an orange juice for the boy, and while seeing her son off had warned Linda about her son’s allergy to almonds, thus not to feed him any candy, as reported by Indy100.

The woman prepared her lunch of roti (Indian flatbread) and baingan ki sabzi (eggplant curry), and the boy asked her if he could ‘take a bite’.

“He ended up loving it and ate two rotis,” she explained in a Reddit post, adding: “I was happy to see him gulp all that up but unfortunately, he was full from the rotis so he barely ate his sandwich.”

Linda picked her son from the babysitter’s place and came back furious to criticize the woman for feeding her son ‘ethnic food’ and accused her of sabotaging her plan of turning her son into a vegan.

"I tried explaining her that what he ate is completely vegan-friendly and is very healthy – and needless to say yummy – or else Ben wouldn’t have [eaten] it all by himself but she was in no mood to listen", the woman said on Reddit.
"She was saying something about how my food would have been so spicy that it could cause her son to fall sick. I am worried now."

The woman had posted it on Reddit with the title, “AITA for feeding a kid ethnic food without his parent’s permission’’.
