A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner belonging to Air Europa had to make an emergency landing in Brazil after being hit by severe turbulence. Around 30 people were injured in the incident. The turbulence was so intense that one man ended up being stuck in an overhead compartment.

The incident occurred during flight UX045, which was travelling from Madrid to Montevideo. Due to the turbulence, the flight was diverted to Natal airport in northeast Brazil. 

Videos posted by passengers showed the extent of the damage and chaos inside the plane. One video captured the feet of a man sticking out of an overhead bin, indicating he had been thrown up there. Other passengers were seen trying to help him down while a baby cried in the background.

Additional clips revealed significant damage inside the aircraft, including torn ceiling panels, a destroyed seat, and oxygen masks hanging down. The flight was carrying 325 passengers at the time of the incident.
