The film allegedly showed a woman's bottom and lasted roughly 13 seconds.

Weather forecaster Michelle Boss appeared to be oblivious of the tape as she indicated "bonus days" of hot weather in Washington after the state's scorching temperatures over the weekend. The film allegedly showed a woman's bottom and lasted roughly 13 seconds. The clip provoked no reaction from Michelle or her co-anchor Cody Proctor. The temperature maps were quickly zoomed in on the news bulletin. Hours later, KREM apologized for the episode. The controversial blooper has since gone viral.

According to a leading US magazine, the FCC stated that the programme broke a federal statute prohibiting stations from showing sexual content between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. According to Travis LeBlanc, chief of the FCC's enforcement division, the penalty conveys a "clear signal that there are severe consequences for TV stations that air sexually explicit images when children are likely to be watching."

The station's person-in-charge, Jeffrey Marks, stated that the decision would be appealed. He stated the tape lasted less than three seconds and was not visible on many television screens. The fine was described by the National Association of Broadcasters as "unprecedented" and "wholly unwarranted."

The explicit image's appearance is being investigated by the Spokane Police Department's special victims unit.

"At the time of this release, the investigation is still underway, and no culpability of any type has been established," cops stated.

It occurs just a few years after WDBJ was fined $325,000 by the Federal Communications Commission for airing a "sexually explicit clip of an adult film website" during the 6 p.m. news report.
