Maharashtra is abuzz with celebrations as devotees honor the Hindu festival of Devshayani Ekadashi, which this year falls on July 17, the 11th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha. Among the numerous acts of devotion, a farmer-engineer from Pune has gained widespread attention for his unique tribute to Lord Vithal.
In a remarkable display of creativity and faith, the farmer-engineer from Mulshi village has crafted a stunning 120-foot-long image of Lord Vithal using paddy plantations. This agricultural artwork was meticulously planted to form the outline of the deity, and a video capturing the aerial view of this extraordinary creation has gone viral.
All India Radio News showcased this awe-inspiring paddy art in a drone-shot video shared on X, captioning it, “A farmer who is also an engineer creates a 120-foot image of Lord Vithal on his farm using paddy plantations in Mulshi village, Pune.” The clip has amassed an impressive 3.6 lakh views within a day.
The video has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many praising the farmer's ingenuity and devotion. One user commented, “Where there is will, there is a way! The power of determination combined with incredible creativity and unwavering devotion is unstoppable.” Another admirer described the paddy art as “so beautiful.”
However, not all responses were positive. A critic remarked, “He has wasted fertile land and crop. Either he will have to remove the crop to re-cultivate or waste a season. Bhakti makes people do stupid things.”
Despite the mixed reactions, the farmer-engineer’s dedication to celebrating Devshayani Ekadashi in such an innovative way has undoubtedly made a lasting impression, showcasing the intersection of faith, art, and agriculture.
